At the heart of its efforts is the support for a primary school in Ngozi Province, which serves approximately 320 students. This school is more than just a place of learning—it’s a safe, nurturing environment where children receive daily hot meals, ensuring they are well-nourished and able to concentrate in class. For many of these students, this meal may be their only substantial food of the day, making it essential not only for learning but for survival.

In addition to nutrition, HAM-NKURIZA provides school uniforms, notebooks, pens, and other essential school supplies, removing common barriers that prevent children from attending school. These basic resources restore dignity and encourage regular school attendance, especially for children from extremely poor households.

Recognizing that access to quality education must extend beyond primary school, HAM-NKURIZA also invests in the future of its students by offering scholarships and continued support at the secondary and vocational levels. This includes covering tuition fees, school materials, exam costs, and where needed, boarding and transportation.

For older students, particularly those who may not pursue traditional academic paths, HAM-NKURIZA facilitates enrollment in vocational and technical education (TVET) programs. These programs equip youth with practical skills in trades like carpentry, tailoring, mechanics, and agribusiness—helping them secure employment or even start their own businesses.

To ensure a high standard of teaching, the organization also pays teacher salaries, helping the school retain qualified educators who are dedicated to the students' growth and development. These educators are often from the local community, reinforcing trust and strengthening local capacity.
